Otto D’Agnolo

producer/ engineer/ musician/ singer/ author/ studio designer/ artist manager/ entrepreneur


Otto began writing and playing original music in his first band in 1973. After a number of years playing in bars throughout the midwest he began teaching audio recording at The Recording Workshop in Ohio.

Relocating to Phoenix, AZ in 1989 he began working at Chaton Recordings as a staff engineer. In 1992 he earned the studio’s first gold record by working on Ce Ce Peniston’s “Finally” for A&M Records. In 1999 as the owners of the original facility were preparing to retire, Otto purchased the studio’s equipment, licensed the name and build a new facility.

With the help of local designer and contractor, Newt Smith, the current Chaton Studios facility opened it’s doors in January 2000.

Other notable achievements include:

being a guest speaker on the producer’s panel at the 2002 NXNE International Music and Film Conference in Toronto, Canada

having his first book titled “The Music Business is Burning Down, Thank God” published by Trafford Books

being a celebrity judge for the FOX TV’s Arizona preliminary of “American Idol” for five years along with Ruth McCartney, Sam Moore, Glen Campbell, Dave Pratt, Lou Rawls, Kerry Dunne and others

participated in recordings for two NFL Superbowl half-time shows

having his original compositions featured on LA Ink, One Tree Hill, Punk’d and others

being elected to the Board of Directors for the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame where he serves as the Chairman of the Advisory Council
